GUIDE
The vault does not open itself because someone has died.
A digital vault stays under the access you set up. A death report does not open the entire vault. If you set Legacy Share, only the designated content can be released, and only after the recipient signs in, makes a sworn declaration under penalty of perjury, you are notified, and 3 calendar days pass unless you stop it. If you named no recipient and no Trusted Contact, other people do not gain a new right to the vault because a death occurred. ForeverVault does not independently verify a death.
Paths that can allow access
Legacy Share
The designated recipient uses a ForeverVault account on the email you named. Notice goes to you by email and by text if a phone number is stored.
Trusted Contact
If you named a Trusted Contact, that person can sign in with the exact designated email and open all current non-deleted Vault items, including items added later.
Shares you already made
An Immediate share is already available to that recipient. A Delayed share arrives on the future date you set, if you did not cancel it.
What does not open the vault
Inactivity
Inactivity does not release a document, send ForeverBinder, or establish that the person died. ForeverVault may send verification notices. Lack of response may notify Trusted Contacts, restrict the account, or mark the account inactive.
A report sitting in the account
ForeverBinder may be built or updated on an eligible Paid plan, including after prolonged inactivity. Building it does not send or release it and does not notify anyone by itself.
Someone who was never named
Family members, an attorney, or a court do not receive the vault automatically. An attorney is optional inside ForeverVault. Legal process is a separate matter under the Terms, including the recovery-key terms.
Practical limits
Originals may still matter
A digital copy may not replace a signed original when an original is legally required. The vault helps people find what you stored and what you designated.
Downloads remain downloads
If you stop a Legacy Share in time, that release does not go through. If someone already downloaded a file under access you had allowed, revocation cannot delete that download.
Wallet and the plan
Wallet stays behind its own PIN and is not opened by Legacy Share, a share, ForeverBinder, or Trusted Contact. If a Stripe monthly or yearly plan has ended, Paid features may already have stopped.
ForeverVault stores and organizes information. It does not provide legal, tax, or financial advice, and it does not create wills or other legal documents.
Available on the web, iPhone and Android.
