GUIDE
A sworn declaration, notice to you, then 3 calendar days.
Legacy Share releases only content you designated, and only to the recipient you named. The recipient signs in with a ForeverVault account on the designated email, then makes a sworn declaration under penalty of perjury. ForeverVault notifies you by email and by text if a phone number is stored. Unless you stop it, the designated content is released after 3 calendar days. ForeverVault does not independently verify the death.
The steps, in order
You designate the content
Choose the recipient and the items that Legacy Share may release. Items you do not designate are not part of that release. A death report does not open the entire vault.
The recipient declares
After signing in, the recipient makes a sworn declaration under penalty of perjury. That declaration starts the notice. ForeverVault does not separately investigate or certify the death.
You are notified, then you can stop it
Notice goes to the owner by email and by text when a phone number is stored. You have 3 calendar days to stop the release.
What the release includes
Designated content only
When the wait ends and you have not stopped it, the recipient receives access to the content you designated for Legacy Share. They sign in to open it.
You can revoke
Revoking access stops future access. It cannot delete a file the recipient already downloaded. If a download already happened, the copy is on their side.
It is not Trusted Contact
A Trusted Contact, after signing in with the designated email, can open all current non-deleted Vault items without a death report. Legacy Share is narrower: designated content, declaration, notice, and 3 calendar days.
What does not start Legacy Share
Inactivity
Inactivity does not release a document, send ForeverBinder, or establish that you have died. ForeverVault may send verification notices. Lack of response may notify Trusted Contacts, restrict the account, or mark it inactive.
Building ForeverBinder
On an eligible Paid plan, an updated ForeverBinder may be built after prolonged inactivity. Building that report does not send or release it, and it does not notify anyone by itself.
A quiet account or a missed login
Delayed share uses a date you pick. Legacy Share uses the declaration and notice steps. Neither one runs because a password aged out or because you did not open the app.
ForeverVault stores and organizes information. It does not provide legal, tax, or financial advice, and it does not create wills or other legal documents.
