FAQ
Short answers
Sharing, Wallet, ForeverBinder, and blockchain each have their own page if you want the pictures.
What is ForeverVault?
ForeverVault is a digital estate vault. Families store wills, trusts, healthcare directives, and other estate planning documents in one encrypted place. You decide who can see them and when — including after you are gone. ForeverVault is not a law firm.
What is digital estate planning?
Here it means putting the papers where family and attorney can find them, and naming who should receive them. It is storage and access, not writing the will. ForeverVault is not a law firm. See digital estate planning.
How does encryption work?
Your documents are encrypted in your browser before upload, using a master key that belongs to your account, and your password never leaves your device. ForeverVault staff do not view, browse, or inspect your files — there is no employee console for opening vaults. The people who can see your content are you, anyone you share with or nominate for legacy or trusted-contact access, and — only if the law requires it — a party named in a valid court order or other legal process, as described in the Terms. That master key is kept in two locked forms: one your password opens, and a recovery key that lets us reset a forgotten password or deliver your documents when you have asked us to. The software uses that key only for those jobs (password reset, legacy delivery, a share you created, a trusted-contact release, and sending an emergency message using a contact detail you stored). Every use is logged. We do not use your files for advertising, training models, or curiosity.
What plans are available?
ForeverVault has two offers. Free stores the will (plus two other papers), a Wallet for 3 cards or logins, someone you trust, and a record of who opened a paper and where the account signed in. Paid adds more room, an unlimited Wallet, ForeverBinder for family and attorney, and blockchain proof.
Can I share documents with others?
Yes. Immediate, Delayed, and Legacy Share are included on Free and Paid. You send a file or note to a specific person and can change or revoke access. Delayed Share sends later and can be cancelled. Legacy Share releases after verified death or long inactivity.
What happens if I forget my password?
You can reset it. Use the "forgot password" link, verify your identity, and choose a new password — your documents stay intact and nothing is lost. This works because ForeverVault holds a recovery key for your account, and it is a deliberate choice: a vault your family cannot open is not much use as a vault. We still recommend a password manager, since a reset is slower than simply remembering it.
Is my data backed up?
Yes, ForeverVault maintains geo-redundant encrypted backups to protect against outages or hardware failures. Your encrypted data is stored in multiple secure locations.
What is ForeverBinder?
ForeverBinder is the paid guided file for the papers an executor actually needs — will, trust, powers of attorney, insurance, property, and the rest. You name who receives it, including your attorney. ForeverVault can deliver it now, or after verified death or long inactivity. It is not a will, not a law firm, and not a physical box. See ForeverBinder.
What is blockchain anchoring?
On Paid, ForeverVault takes a SHA-256 fingerprint of a file and anchors it with OpenTimestamps on the Bitcoin blockchain. That proves the document existed at a point in time without publishing the file. It does not prove the will is valid or the latest one. See blockchain proof.
How do I upgrade my plan?
You can upgrade to Paid at any time from Billing in your account. Paid is monthly, yearly, or lifetime.
Is ForeverVault a law firm?
No. ForeverVault is not a law firm and does not give legal advice or refer clients. It is an encrypted digital vault for estate documents. Find an Attorney lets families search by ZIP; Featured listings are paid placements, not endorsements.
Is ForeverVault free?
Yes. You can start with the will at no charge. Share it, keep a Wallet for 3 cards or logins, name someone you trust, and see who opened a paper and where the account signed in. More room, ForeverBinder, and blockchain are on Paid.
Who founded ForeverVault and where is the company based?
Andres Montejo founded ForeverVault. ForeverVault LLC is an Arizona limited liability company. Support is support@forevervault.com. Mail: PO Box 170168, Miami, FL 33015.
How do I find an estate planning attorney on ForeverVault?
Open Find an Attorney and search by ZIP. Results cover counties anywhere in the United States. Featured listings appear first — three firms per county.
What is a Featured attorney listing?
A Featured listing is a paid placement on Find an Attorney. It costs $249 per year. There are three firms per county, anywhere in the United States, first come, first served. It is not an endorsement and is separate from a vault membership.
What is a digital estate vault?
A digital estate vault is an online place to keep estate planning documents — wills, trusts, powers of attorney, insurance, and family records — encrypted and organized. ForeverVault is that vault. It is not a physical binder and not a law firm.
Where should I store my will and trust?
Keep the signed originals where your attorney or state rules require. Put a current copy in ForeverVault so you and the people you choose can find the papers without a scavenger hunt through drawers and laptops.
Can I share my will with my family?
Yes. Immediate Share lets you send a will, trust, or note to a specific person and revoke access later. Delayed Share sends it later. Legacy Share releases it after verified death or long inactivity. All three share types are on Free and Paid.
What happens to my documents after I die?
If you set Legacy Share, ForeverVault can release chosen documents after verified death or long inactivity. That is why the account has a recovery key: a vault no one can open is not useful to a family. You still choose who receives what.
Is ForeverVault a digital alternative to an estate binder?
It does the job people buy a death binder for — one place for the papers — but it is encrypted, works on a phone, and can share or release files. It does not hold spare keys or paper originals. A binder and a digital estate vault can be used together.
Is ForeverVault the same as theforevervault.com or forever-vault.com?
No. ForeverVault is forevervault.com, operated by ForeverVault LLC. We are not theforevervault.com or forever-vault.com, and we are not affiliated with those sites.
Do you offer free estate planning forms?
Yes. ForeverVault has free fillable PDFs: a durable financial power of attorney, a medical power of attorney, a living will, and a HIPAA authorization. They are general nationwide drafts, not state statutory forms, and not legal advice. Have an attorney in your state review them. See free estate planning forms.
Are the free power of attorney and living will forms fillable PDFs?
Yes. Open the PDF, type in the fields, print, and sign the way your state requires. No account is needed to download. See free fillable forms.
