GUÍA

A life change is a reason to review, not a reason to guess.

Marriage, divorce, a new child, a move, a death in the family, or a new home or policy can leave old beneficiaries, old addresses, and old access in place. Review the documents and the ForeverVault settings that point to them. ForeverVault does not update a will or a beneficiary form for you, and it does not decide whether a document is still valid. Whether you need an attorney depends on your circumstances and applicable law.

Documents worth opening again

Wills and directions

Look at any will, trust, power of attorney, and healthcare direction you already signed. Ask whether the people named still match your life.

Beneficiaries and insurance

Retirement accounts, payable-on-death accounts, and life insurance often pass by their own beneficiary forms. A will does not automatically rewrite those forms.

Property and debts

A sale, a refinance, a new loan, or a move changes what an old list says. Update property, account, and debt notes.

Shares and dates

Immediate shares are already with the recipient. Delayed shares wait for a future date only. If that date, or that person, no longer fits, change or cancel it before the date arrives.

Trusted Contact

After signing in with the exact designated email, a Trusted Contact can open all current non-deleted Vault items, including items you add later. Wallet contents are excluded.

The email on the account

Someone needs a ForeverVault account on the designated email to receive a share, a legacy release, or Trusted Contact access. After a divorce or a death, confirm that the email still belongs to the person you intend.

What a review does not do

It is not legal advice

ForeverVault is not a law firm. Free forms on the site are general templates, not state statutory forms, and should be reviewed for compliance with the law where they will be used.

Inactivity is not a life event

Not signing in does not release a document, send ForeverBinder, or establish that anyone has died. ForeverVault may send verification notices. Lack of response may notify Trusted Contacts, restrict the account, or mark it inactive.

Replace the file you changed

When you sign a new document, upload the new copy and tell the people who still hold the old one if you shared it.

ForeverVault stores and organizes information. It does not provide legal, tax, or financial advice, and it does not create wills or other legal documents.
